Drug name: Kenalog #ProductAnalogues##ProductIngridients#Therapeutic actions: Kenalog contains the active ingredient triamcinolone that belongs to a group of medicines called corticosteroids. Due to blocking the release of certain chemicals(prostaglandins, IL-1, IL-2, gamma-interferone) Kenalog possesses anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic properties. Kenalog also inhibits the secretion of TTH(thyrotropic hormone) and FSH(follicle-stimulating hormone). Triamcinolone increases the excitability of CNS, lowers the amount of lymphocytes and eosinophils, stimulates the production of erythropoetin resulting in increasing number of red blood cells. Antiepileptics, barbiturates, rifampicin, aminoglutethimide increase the removal of triamcinolone from the body resulting in lowering its therapeutic effect. carbenoxolone, amphotericin, acetazolamide or diuretics t increase the risk of low blood potassium levels called hypokalaemia.NSAID's in conjunction with Kenalog increase the risk of stomach ulceration and bleedings. Kenalog may impair the antihypertensive effects of the drugs used to treat high blood pressure due to salt and water retention Triamcinolone may reduce the effects of anti diabetic medicines because of increasing blood sugar levels. Live vaccines should not be administered while taking triamcinolone and other corticosteroids.
