Do I have to stop taking Forteo?

Question: I am going to have three teeth removed and want to know if you have to quit taking forteo. When I was taking actonel the dentist made me quit taking it. I am not on actonol now I am taking forteo. Thank you.

Actonel is part of a group of drugs called bisphosphonates. Bisphosphonates are associated with a rare adverse effect called osteonecrosis of the jaw, which is when the jaw bone can become damaged and painful, often after dental surgery.
